We are just back from 10 days in the RIU Vistamar. We were a family group of 12 ranging in age from 8 up to 60. The hotel is built very high up on a cliff. We were on the first floor and our room had a lovely view of the ocean. The view was a little obscured by an ugly netting that goes around part of the hotel. It was fine though, I just looked out to sea and avoided looking down at the net. The room was nice. It was cleaned everyday by a lovely cleaning lady who did a great job. Bottled Water was provided everyday. Really appreciated that. There was a mini fridge and safe in the room, beds were comfy. Only thing I would say about the first floor is that it is a long long way up to the 8 and 9th floor which is where the reception area, restaurant, bars and pools are. The lifts were not as efficient as they could be and sometimes you could be waiting a while for one. Make sure you have everything with you and don’t have to go back to the room too often. The all inclusive food was ok. The roast joints of meat in the evening were very tasty. The Canarian food such as the stews and paellas were very good. We went out for dinner 4 nights out of the 10 and breakfast 3 mornings. I have had better food in previous all inclusives I have stayed in where you wouldn’t want to go out at all. Same with the alcohol. It was plentiful and the measures very generous but the wine wasn’t great and red wine would be my drink. The beer is Amstel and my husband wasn’t a fan. There was a generic vodka but if u asked for it specifically they would give Eristof which was marginally better. The pools were lovely. When you check in you get a towel card and you can get fresh towels everyday up until 2pm. There is a restaurant at the pools called Seabreeze and they have food that you can take away on paper plates and eat at the pool. I have to tell you that there are A-LOT of steps and stairs at this hotel. It is not for you if you have problems with mobility.

This hotel is the best. so clean and kept so well. The staff an absolute credit so friendly and helpful. The pools, the views, the room was exceptional. Clean towels , cleaned and beds made every day, the food and drink out of this world. So much choice. Cant recommend more, we will be returning. definitely pushing a 5 star, I never wanted to leave. Plenty of sunbeds and seats in the restaurants and entertainment venue. Entertainment was ok , although we stayed in a 3 star hotel the week before and saw two of the same acts there aswell so it was a bit unfortunate. There are football pitches, basketball and volleyball on sand. Table Tennis, pool tables, a gym, exercise classes. We walked down to the beach of amadores which is so nice took about 25 mins but there is a shuttle bus you can take and definitely need it on the way back or a taxi only costs 3 euros back up the hill. Sunbeds on the beach are 4 euros , worth it as a beach day is a must we swam for ages in the clear turquoise waters. we walked to Puerto Rico to the harbour this is 1020 m took about half hour but lovely coastal walk. I will never stay anywhere else in Gran Canaria now as found the best hotel in the best location

The staff at the hotel were exceptional. All were very welcoming and friendly. The room was upgraded to a double room at no extra cost. It was a good size. Bed was very comfortable and slept well every night. Bathroom again a good size with a good shower. Room decor was new and very clean. Great view of the bay below. I was in room 569. Food quality was very good. I ate most things. I'd read reviews before I went of people being ill in the hotel. I saw none of this. The food was all fresh and replenished regularly. The tables were cleaned immediately after people had finished and left. Dirty plates taken from the table as soon as people had finished that meal. I would stay here again.

The food was very good -- not the best we've ever had, but it had a good variety, was fresh -- it was nice also to have the option of two specialty restaurants. We are gym people, so it was nice to have a gym -- pretty good equipment though some free weights would be a bonus if they were able to get some. One of the treadmills also did not have a working display. The room was comfortable with a great view and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were able to get extra pillows which made it even more comfortable. They did a great job of cleaning.
